It is with heavy heart that I must post the loss of my father Ernest "Bud" Sweetwood and the loss of my maternal grandmother Ida Sands all on the same blog. They both passed away in less than a week.
As you know if you read my blog I have been taking care of father everyday since Februrary of this year. I left my place of employment to spend more time with him and help my mother in taking care of him. I must say that I do not regret one moment that I shared with my father. Leaving my job and spending everyday with him was wonderful. We bonded and talked about things that we had never talked about before. He filled my afternoons with stories about him as a young boy running his traps barefoot through the timber in Williamsburg,Ks. He told me about leaving school after the eighth grade to work in the coal mines and help out his family. Then I was fascinated to hear all about his adventures and heroic events in Germany during WWII. My dad had 2 purple hearts and a unit citation for his efforts at the Rhine River where he was wounded the first time. I am so proud to be his daughter and I am planning on writing some kind of a book about all of the wonderful stories that he shared with me. There are no words to express the loss my mother and I are feeling. My parents would have been married for 66 years Oct. 25th.
We are also grieving over the loss of my maternal grandmother, Ida. I can't imagine how it must be for my mother to lose her husband and mother with in a weeks time. I feel so bad for her but I promised my father that I would take care of her and I would neverbreak a promise to my dad.
I know it is time to get back to writing my latest book and I plan to do just that. I have it about half written and it is getting real exciting so stay in touch and I promise to have it finished as soon as possible.
