A beautiful day in Kansas! I have been spending a lot of my time mowing grass for my mother and myself but "Another Mile" is coming along well. I try to write on it everyday but some days there just aren't enough hours!
I spent part of today painting my outdoor bench and flower box. I have planted a few flowers recently and they are lovely.
May is usually one of my favorite months in Kansas especially when we do not have tornadoes. So far this year it has been much too cold for tornadic weather but there is still plenty of time, after all I do live in Kansas!
I was never afraid of tornadoes as a young girl or even a teen. I think when I moved out to the country in a mobile home on a hill with no basement was when it hit me.
"What are you doing out here all alone with no shelter living in the middle of tornado alley?" I asked myself.
After the tornadoes last February I decided it was time for a shelter. I bought one and put it close to my sidewalk in the backyard next to the house. It may be a bit of an eye sore as it is an above ground version but I didn't want to try and carry my cat Scooter and walk down a ladder during a storm. Hopefully I will never have to use it!
I am having another photo shoot of me next Tuesday for my next book and for public relations and marketing. The photographer may even take the picture for the book cover, he is very gifted.
Send me a comment or just drop a line to say hello. I need to know that you are still out there!
Have a blessed Memorial Day and remember that hot dogs and family picnics are wonderful but keep in mind what the day is for.
God bless all of you and those that have passed.
Barbara
